History of Web Design
Front Graphic of my 2nd 2000 Page.
Here are some websites I designed. From 2001 to 2008, I was the WebMaster of
IceFoot.com (defunct).
I coded in Java, Perl, ASP, Javascript, php, MySQL, wml, xml, etc. In 2003, I lost a 250Mb zip disc that contained over 10 freelance
websites I designed for companies around the Chicagoland area.
The photo (left) represents a website that I designed in 2000.
This graphic appeared as my front page and replaced the Denali website (next photo). The website had roll-over buttons and and a graphic
navigation bar. The site had a clean and colorful appearance. At this time, I was working as a freelance Web Designer.

From my first 2000 page. The photo of Wonder Lake, AK
(Denali National Park) was taken at 3:00 am to 4:00 am. Denali and the sunrise created an
unusual contrast. The website used button navigation. The site was redesigned because it was graphics intensive. It is interesting
to note that CSS at this time was buggy in both Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer. One reason why Flash gained in popularity. Thus,
a cool looking website was graphics intensive. And, at this time, most internet subscibers were using 56K modems.
Photo for Daily Egyptian (1997).
In the summer of 1997, I worked as a part-time Web Designer for the
Daily Egyptian in Carbondale, IL. My boss was surprised when I said the paper needed an on-line reporter. I also mentioned that the
the website's content did not need to mimic a traditional newspaper. Ten years later, finding a newspaper would be a challenge. On-line
reporters are pretty common now and the traditional newspapers that could not compete in the online arena are out of business.
